Your relationship notes stay yours.

1. Information stored on your iPhone

The following information is stored locally on your device:

• names and roles you enter for people or groups;
• conversation preparation, including facts, assumptions, objectives, expected responses, and notes;
• agreements, open questions, new context, and follow-ups you confirm after a real conversation; and
• rehearsal transcripts, only according to the retention option you choose.

You can choose not to retain rehearsal transcripts, retain them for 30 days, or keep them until you delete them. You can delete all local app data from Settings.

2. AI processing and your choice

Before information is first sent for AI-assisted preparation or a live rehearsal, equen identifies the information involved and the service providers that process it, and asks you to continue.

When you continue, equen sends only the information needed for the feature you requested. Depending on the feature, this can include a name or role you entered, relevant preparation, relevant confirmed relationship context, live rehearsal audio, and the rehearsal transcript. Requests pass through Google Firebase Functions and are processed by OpenAI.

equen does not persist the content of those requests on its application backend. Rehearsal audio is not saved as an audio file. OpenAI API data is not used to train OpenAI models by default; limited retention for abuse monitoring may apply under OpenAI's data controls.

Avoid entering information that is not necessary for your rehearsal, particularly sensitive personal information or confidential employer information.

3. Microphone, speech recognition, and calendar

Microphone

Microphone access is requested immediately before a voice rehearsal or optional voice note. Rehearsal audio is streamed for the live interaction and is not retained as an audio file.

On-device speech recognition

Optional voice notes for the real-conversation debrief use on-device speech recognition. The audio is not saved.

Calendar

If you grant calendar access, equen reads upcoming event details on your device so you can associate preparation with a conversation and receive a local reminder. Calendar contents are not sent to the AI service.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. RevenueCat helps equen verify purchases and provide subscription access. RevenueCat may process purchase history and a pseudonymous app user identifier for app functionality. equen does not receive your full payment card details.

5. Security and identifiers

equen uses Apple App Attest through Firebase App Check to help prevent unauthorized use of its backend. The app also uses an installation-scoped, pseudonymous identifier for service integrity, rate limiting, and subscription access. We do not use these identifiers to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

If you enable the app lock, Face ID or your device passcode is evaluated by iOS. equen does not receive or store biometric data.

6. Retention and deletion

Local information remains on your device until you delete it, delete the app, or the chosen 30-day transcript retention period expires. Live AI content is not retained by equen's application backend. Service providers may retain limited operational or abuse-prevention data according to their policies and our service configuration.

equen does not require an account, so there is no cloud account to delete. Use Settings → Data → Delete all app data to remove local content.

7. Sharing and international processing

We share information only with service providers needed to operate the feature you request, including Apple, RevenueCat, Google Firebase, and OpenAI. These providers may process data in countries other than your own under their applicable safeguards. We do not sell or rent personal information.

8. This website

This website does not use advertising trackers or create user accounts. Its hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process standard network and security information such as IP address, request time, and browser information to deliver and protect the site.

9. Children

equen is a professional workplace tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes and contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes to equen or applicable requirements. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
